Things that annoy you...

Sadly, that's largely true. It depends on the relationship you have with them, but sometime just telling it straight is all you have. Do you want help? Really? Because you shoot down every suggestion and don't seem prepared to try whatever I or anyone else suggests. Just don't deliver it accusingly, in fact, pre-empt it with how hard it might be to hear and say. You may still get abuse, but you'll have done what you could and, sometimes, it take a while for the seed to flower. Good luck with it.
I had a friend who smoked. Walking down the street one day she took out a ciggie & I made the mistake of saying how bad they were for women (especially a woman her age, I thought). She was FURIOUS that I said anything &, believe it or not, our friendship ended right there. Oh, before she stormed off she told me that I inject myself into everyone’s “story”.

So glad I don’t live in Europe anymore because I cannot stand a 24 hour clock & metric measurements. They drive me nuts.

Didn't you grow up with metric system? I didn't know Europe used a 24 hour clock.

I don’t know a single metric measurement so I guess I didn’t.

I guess I'm confused. I thought UK went to metric long ago? I know the US was going to convert to metric in the late 1970s but ended up not doing it.

I have no idea when the UK went metric. Didn’t the US try metric in the eighties? I thought I read that somewhere.

I believe the US was suppose to be on the metric system by sometime in the 1980s but Reagan killed that idea when he was elected president. When did you leave the UK?

The UK tries to straddle both, so as not to alienate old people. Most of those are dead now, so now we don't alienate the old people who've grown up with both. That, and I suppose it allows charlatans to claim 'brexit bonuses'.

I started school in the 70's and they were teaching us both at the same time. Metric, so we'd know what we were doing in the future and imperial so we knew what we were doing at the time. I have no idea, but it would be very much in keeping with this country if they were still doing that. We do the same with weather too. It's always displayed in Centigrade but it's common for the meterologist to also say what that is in Fahrenheit as well or for it to be written after the Centigrade reading.

Just an FYI, but the temperature thing gets even weirder depending on whether it's hot or cold. When it's hot, it'll always be expressed in Farrenheit by people 'have you heard? It's going to be in the 90's next week.' whereas, when it's cold, it'll be Centigrade 'They say it's going to be -5 tonight.' Such a weird little island.

Not sure I mentioned this one before but I DESPISE liars. And in my line of work I get lied to on a daily basis. When will people realize you gain a lot more respect from simply saying, "You know, I messed up and I'm sorry" than to blatantly lie?

I've never used F for temperature and don't think I've heard anyone else around me use it, it's all C here in Britain!

Ugh, people keep throwing around false accusations against me on Discord, and I've had it up to ****ing here with 'em.

Maybe it's finally changed for the younger ones? Of course, I'm already hearing how it's hotter than Portugal today, so the first really hot day and we'll probably see a 'Phew! What a scorcher" Sun headline.

Weird indeed & mighty confusing.
