Tarantino Defending Polanski (Howard Stern)

Tools

Thanks. I asked because I noticed post here at MoFo were having big double spaces for paragraphs.

I use Firefox too and have been trying to figure out a solution to that...Back to the convo at hand
Yes, I am in the double-space zone. I am often too lazy to edit out the spaces.

The interview was in 2003 and the first I saw him apologize for him comments was in 2018.
That's restores some of my trust in him then. If he apologized a couple days after that interview, it would be really fishy, but 15 years is a fairly large time gap, so it's not a huge stretch to buy that he changed during those years.

It's cute that we are assuming this thread has to do with cancelling Tarantino, and isn't a way to move the conversation towards talking about all those pedophile perverts on the left.

Nice try.

I can't believe I'm going to defend Corax on this...but...I didn't see anything he said that would link this thread's subject to the left. No one brought that up until now.

I actually knew a guy who dated a 14 yo girl at the age of 25 or something. He told me about that casually and when I confronted him about it, he said that she lied to him that she was 15. 15 is the age of consent here. Well, it doesn't make it OK to date a 15 yo in your mid-twenties. But even if it did, he didn't seem fazed that she lied and she was under 15! Either way, he started defending himself saying it's not bad or anything because people used to romance girls as young as that once upon a time. (And similar asinine arguments that I harshly rebuked.) I gave him a talking-to so harsh he consecutively stopped dating her.

According to him, they only met twice and nothing more than hugging happened. And I believe him. He wasn't much of a predator. More like a VERY desperate virgin guy. The girl apparently was the first girl who showed any interest in him and he conveniently ignored her age and was swooped in romantic upheaval.

All that being said, it kinda sounds cool if I imagine that I actually saved a child from a terrible abuser! Hehe. Well, I do believe I saved them both from nasty consequences...

So, you see, if Polański was similarly swooped and hugging was all that happened, I'd be willing to give the man the benefit of the doubt, just like I did to the guy I knew. But Polański had oral, vaginal, and anal sex with her. This makes defending what he did undefendable in itself. And makes you question why Tarantino would do that.

I've had the same issue. But if I hold down the "Shift" key while making a paragraph with the "Enter" key, it keeps to a single paragraph spacing.

What makes it worse for me is that I'll often type out a review in LibreOfficeWriter (on a Linux platform), so when I copy and paste the formatting is way different here.

How about you read what he said about Weinstein County a couple of posts back. This is about Hollywood elite turning a blind eye to child abuse. A Hollywood elite he equates with lefitism. This is his pivot. He's done it before. He's going to do it again. Just forewarning you what the game is here.

Yoda suggested the Shift fix, I found it hard to do.

Let's see if that worked? It did! But still hard for me. I’ve written stuff in LibreOffice Writer, in fact I’m doing this part of the post in that program.

I’ll make a paragraph and see what happens when I copy paste it.p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 115% }

If he does, then I'll go this way.

Yeah, I too get the code following the post if I transfer it from LibreOfficeWriter to here. I have to "Preview" the post, erase the code, then post it.

My suggestion is just to keep talking about Tarantino because that is definitely not what he want to talk about.
Problem is I'm the biggest Tarantino hater on the board. Now if we talk about Woody Allen I am a fan of his movies.

I'm a big fan of both Woody Allen and Tarantino. What are your top 5 Woody Allen films?
