Foreign movie about girl who commits suicide when partner cheats.

A friend of mine described a film she saw years ago and I'm hoping to find it in DVD for her.


It's apparently a foreign romantic drama where a young(ish) couple fal in love but the man has an affair with an older woman (possibly landlady) and involves an explicit sex scene with her. The girl finds out and feels she is no longer loved so commits suicide by cutting her wrists on a bench (maybe in the snow?).


She says it's over 20 years old but I've no idea what it could be or if it can even be bought?

Was the movie contemporary or from an earlier time period?

Sorry for delay, been trying to contact friend. She says it was European, likely French of Italian and contemporary, maybe 90s?
