I'm looking for a movie. I used to own it on VHS as a child but I could not read Chinese. Luckily the film was subtitled in English with spoken Cantonese which I also understood.

The movie revolved around a visiter to a temple, an enemy feigning diplomacy looking for a super-arts scroll that would teach/pass on mystical abilities: in this case, shoot lasers from finger tips. This enemy looked like he was mixed black and chinese, or at least very dark skin toned and reminded me of baring resemlences to the best of my abilities could only be described as a chinese Martin Luther King Jr.
A noob chinese character stumbles into a cave and acquires the scroll and reads it to learn the technique with one of the requirements having him eat a poisonous frog, which makes him vomit.
Are there any Kung-Fu enthusiasts that can help me out. I believe all the VHS were thrown out when my family upgraded to DVD.

No, it's not battle wizard; there were no weird creature monsters.

Yea, and I'll go into further description with that black-asian guy.
In the scene where he enters, the black-asian guy sits with his legs crossed and is surrounded by other fighters. They engage him and he starts blocking all their attacks while spinning around in a circle, fighting all those that surround him while still sitting cross legged.
