Before man was, war waited for him.

Up first:

Arturo Gatti vs. Gabriel Ruelas

Here's a link for anybody who might accidentally see this and want to watch the fight. It's supposed to be a war. I guess we'll see.

Round 1:

Arturo Gatti, damn, i forgot that he didn't always fight invincible Irishmen. His reach is telling so far, and with him effectively going inside at any chance i know where this is going.

I'll give this to Gatti only slightly though he was well countered at times.

Tell me when to start round 2 JJ.

Before man was, war waited for him.
1st round:

I love Gatti as much as he loved punching the sh*t out of people. I might being scoring this with some bias, so I don't know how much you can trust me giving Gatti rounds. That said, I'd give him this round. Ruelas might be a better defender, making Gatti miss some shots, but when Ruelas hit Gatti, it didn't look like Gatti felt it.

Gatti is throwing hard, with purpose; Somewhat wild, which got him hit a couple times. He looked like the stronger fighter in the first though.

Round 2:

Weird round, i give it to Gatti again i had that as a slip before the ref did. That round seemed to mirror Gatti's career, flashes of pure world class brilliance mixed with jittery inconsistency. He is without a doubt one of the most frustrating to watch.

He had that round though unless you scored that a knockdown.

Round 2: Gatti

Going with Gatti again, but Ruelas had a decent showing. His chin is holding up so far, as he ate a pretty nasty right. Early in the round he was connecting with some good shots, but I think Gatti took the round over with some hard shots. Nothing too nasty, but that right was nasty enough to be exciting. The slip was weird, but I do think it was a slip.

Round 3: Gatti

Gatti won this round behind his jab, pretty straightforward to me. Ruelas wasn't really going at Gatti as much as the first two rounds. And he punched Gatti in the dick too. I don't much care for dick punching.

Round 3:

Woah i had no idea that was about to end. I'll begrudgingly give that to Gatti mostly because of the low blow. I felt Ruelas was starting to figure out how to fight Gatti before that low blow, but that seemed to upset the rhythm he was developing and allowed Gatti to refresh and start utilizing his reach advantage.

Gatti 3-0 so far

P.S. I feel weird scoring rounds. I don't really know what criteria to use other than: "Uh, this feels right."
Same. We are scoring it by our own rules, it stops someone using the rules of boxing to survive a fight rather than try to win it. We go by eye rather than how many punches each guy landed which is stupidly deceptive.
