I'd give her a HA! and a HI-YA! Then I'd kick her.

Radio Days (1987) - This movie was recommended by Citizen Rules.

This is a nice movie that's basically a bunch of different stories that are based on people's thoughts while listening to radio broadcasts. It has a nostalgic feeling to it that makes it delightful to watch. It's funny and very entertaining, with just a little bit of sadness too.

I've never been a fan of Woody Allen, and I seem to prefer his movies that he doesn't act in, but I think I'm starting to understand him a little bit better, and that's making his movies more enjoyable to watch.

Thank You to Citizen Rules for this great recommendation.

The Narrow Margin (1952) - This movie was recommended by Gunslinger45 and Citizen Rules.

This is a good movie with some interesting plot twists. Some of the twists were a bit predictable, but some of them I didn't see coming. There are a couple of plot holes, but if you can overlook them, this movie is worth watching if you like Film Noir.

One minor note: I HATED the close-up of the woman using the emery board to file her nails. Even in the movies, those things give me the chills.

Thank You to both Gunslinger45 and Citizen Rules for this great recommendation.

Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950)

I almost didn't watch this movie because I read that it was brutal and violent, but I decided to watch it anyway because I like James Cagney. I'm glad that I watched it because it's a very good movie.

Cagney's character is very violent, but there's something about him that draws you in and makes you want to watch him anyway. You almost even want to root for him even though he's the bad guy.

If you like Film Noir, I recommend this movie.

Margaret (2011) - This movie was recommended by Seanc because I liked another movie (You Can Count on Me (2000)) by the same director (Kenneth Lonergan).

This movie is a very good coming-of-age story about a young girl who is forced to grow up suddenly after she irresponsibly causes a terrible tragedy. At the time of the accident, it was hard to care about Lisa because she just seemed like the most self-centered person in the world. We see some changes in her throughout the movie, but she has a lot more growing up to do, including taking responsibility for her own actions.

It has a very interesting ending that probably makes this movie either a "love it or hate it" movie for most people. On a side note, this movie would probably be a great HoF nomination because it would probably generate a lot of discussion.

Thank You to Seanc for this great recommendation.

The Solid Gold Cadillac (1956)

This is a terrific movie about the little guy vs. the big corporation. It's a bit predictable, but it's a great story that gets better and better as the movie goes on. Even the narration by George Burns is perfect. I also loved the way the whole movie is in black and white, but the final scene is in color.

Judy Holliday and Paul Douglas seem like an odd couple, but they have wonderful chemistry together. (On a side note, I don't know why, but for some reason, Paul Douglas reminds me of Fred Flintstone.)

John Loves Mary (1949) - I might be remembering wrong, but I think this movie was recommended to me a while back by Citizen Rules.

This is a very entertaining movie, with some very funny scenes. The only issue that I had with it was that through the whole movie, I just wanted John to tell Mary the truth. It just felt like they belonged together, but it's always a bad idea to start out a marriage with a lie, and if she really loved him, I thought that she would understand why he did what he did.
But if you can overlook this issue, (and you have to overlook it because his secret is basically the whole premise of the movie), this is a terrific movie.

The whole cast is great, but Jack Carson is so good that he steals the movie. I haven't seen a lot of Ronald Reagan's movies, but I really liked him in this one.

Phone Call from a Stranger (1952)

This is a terrific movie with three different stories that are told in flashbacks. A man survives a plane crash that killed three people who he met and became friends with on the plane. He decides to visit their families, and from the stories, we learn how much these people loved their families, and we see how it affects this stranger.

This movie is a great drama, but it's also a very charming movie with good cast and a great ending.

Adam's Rib (1949)

This movie is funny, intelligent, and it has a terrific ending. This is probably my favorite of all the movies that starred both Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. Their chemistry is perfect as they play husband and wife lawyers who go against each other at the trial of a woman accused of shooting her cheating husband.

The supporting cast including Judy Holliday, Tom Ewell, and David Wayne are also terrific.

To Catch a Thief (1955)

This is a great movie, but it doesn't really have the same "feel" as many other Hitchcock movies. The mystery seems to take a backseat to the romance, and there's very little feeling of suspense and danger. The movie is predictable, and a bit slow at times, but the scenery is beautiful and the movie is terrific.

Despite the large difference in their ages, Cary Grant and Grace Kelly are terrific together in this movie.

There's also an interesting Alfred Hitchcock cameo in this movie. Cary Grant is on a bus, sitting between Alfred Hitchcock and a lady with some birds in a cage. Grant looks back and forth at Hitchcock and the birds, years before Hitchcock's classic movie The Birds was made.

Indiscreet (1958)

This movie is a terrific romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with a married man, but she later finds out that he lied about being married. The first half of the movie is romantic and charming, but the second half of the movie is when she finds out his secret, and that's when the fun begins.

Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman have wonderful chemistry together. I highly recommend this movie. It's one of my favorite Cary Grant movies.

People Will Talk (1951)

This movie is basically a nice, light drama with some romance, humor, and even a little mystery subplot. When we finally get to hear it, the story of Mr. Shunderson is fascinating. This movie was probably controversial years ago, but it holds up well over the years.

This is another terrific Cary Grant movie. His character in this movie is possibly my favorite of all of his roles. Hume Cronyn is also terrific as Professor Elwell.

Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)

This movie has a terrific cast, but sadly, I didn't care much for the story at all. It's boring, a bit disturbing, and it's even kind of creepy.

I expected better from a movie with Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Montgomery Clift.

Save the Texas Prairie Chicken
My favorite Hepburn-Tracy film is "Adam's Rib".

My least favorite Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery film is "Suddenly Last Summer". I hate that movie. It is so boring and I didn't care for any of the characters.

GBG, I've said it before but you watch a lot of movies and I swear I could watch every one of them and like 95% of them. Some quick comments.

Radio Days...Glad you liked it! SilentVamp mentioned it to me
At one time I said I didn't like Woody Allen films, now I found I enjoy many of his movies and want to see more.

The Narrow Margin
...I really enjoyed Marie Windsor in this.

Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye
...You and Gunslinger are watching a LOT of Noirs and I'm jealous But good for your guys!

Margaret (2011)
Count on Me (2000)
...Thanks for posting these, and thanks to Sean for recommending them. They both sound like films I would like so I added them to my need to watch list.

The Solid Gold Cadillac (1956)
...Never seen that one.

John Loves Mary (1949)
...You finally watched it, yup that was me who suggested it to you. Ronald Reagan is very likable on the screen.

I watched a few Woody Allen movies years ago, and I found him very annoying, but it's been a long time, and I'm giving him another chance. I think Radio Days is one of his better movies.

And Thank you to SilentVamp too for this great recommendation.

Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye...You and Gunslinger are watching a LOT of Noirs and I'm jealous But good for your guys!
I started my 1950's movie watching early, and there are a lot of Noirs in that decade. I'm not sure that I'll love any of them enough to break into my top 25 list, but I'm enjoying watching them. Noir movies have a different "feel" than any other movies.

Margaret (2011)
Count on Me (2000)...Thanks for posting these, and thanks to Sean for recommending them. They both sound like films I would like so I added them to my need to watch list.
Seanc recommended Margaret, but Cricket recommended You Can Count on Me. (I just want to make sure that I give the correct credit where credit is due. )

John Loves Mary (1949)[/i]...You finally watched it, yup that was me who suggested it to you. Ronald Reagan is very likable on the screen.
Ronald Reagan as an actor was before my time, but my parents liked him. They even had a movie poster of his movie Bedtime for Bonzo in the den, (along with posters from other classics like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and several Hitchcock movies).

I'd give her a HA! and a HI-YA! Then I'd kick her.

Real Steel (2011)

This movie is more than just a movie about fighting robots. It's a story about a father reuniting with his son.

I generally don't like movies about fighting, but this movie is fantastic. It's fun. It's exciting, and it will make you cheer for a robot named Atom. This is an amazing movie with an incredible ending.

Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo have terrific chemistry together as father and son. I love the scenes when Atom (the robot) dances with Max (Dakota Goyo), and when he shadows Charlie's boxing moves.

This is one of my favorite Hugh Jackman movies.

The Frisco Kid (1979)

This western comedy is one of my favorite movies. It's about a Rabbi's dangerous journey from Poland to San Fransisco, with the help of a bank robber.

Some people may not agree with me, but I think this is one of Gene Wilder's funniest movies. (Maybe it's because I "get" all the Jewish jokes that some people might miss.)

Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford are terrific together in this highly underrated comedy.

Real Genius (1985)

This movie is one of my favorite 80's comedies. A group of genius students goof off, build a laser, and more in this hysterical movie. This terrific movie will make you "laugh-out-loud", and it has some terrific one-liners.

This is easily Val Kilmer's best movie, and William Atherton is terrific as their professor.

This is a must-see movie for anyone who loves a good comedy.

Another Frisco Kid fan here! I think I've only seen it twice and so long ago, but I remember really loving that movie.
I remember looking for a copy to rent in a video store (remember those?) I think I may have found one too - that might have been the second time I saw it.
