Blue Velvet (1983)
This is my first time seeing a David Lynch film. I had heard in the past that he's a very surreal director, and I definitely got that impression from this movie. Though I don't typically enjoy movies of this nature, there are a few exceptions. Some of my major problems with the movie were how some of the characters just saying weird things. Lynch reminds me of Ridley Scott in the sense that they are "style over substance." Some of the dialog just seemed weird to me. Other than that I didn't hate this film. To be honest I wasn't in a good mood when I watched this. I might have a completely different opinion the next time I see it. I did like the use of lighting and colors in certain spots, and overall the story was genuinely intriguing. That ****ing earring was SOOOOO distracting though.
For now I'll give it a (6/10)
