The Day After Tomorrow

It's been a long time since I have seen a descent disaster flick. The Core disappointed me, though it had it's moments. I think 9/11 scared away the idea of having a good disaster movie. This one looks promising and I hope it lives up to my expectations. Looks can be decieving though...

I agree with Blibb mostly. And after 9/11 my mom and I were watching some movies and we noticed that New York gets the crap beat out of it. Even in the Simpsons! lol... It's a strange thing.

just saw the trailer and yeah....i think i'll be there the day it comes out
looks like a good movie
btw...how does it look like independence day?....i mean....i didn't see any aliens to battle(mother nature will tend to be a more fierce foe)
no space ships
no empire state building and white house blowing up

just the elements destroying the earth as they did millions of years ago when dinosaurs were here

so please...tell me what are the bloody simularities?????

no wait....i see a similarity...a city get's destroyed
wow
how insightfull

I See You When You're Sleeping
I'd rather eat my foot (one of) than see this movie.

Independance day, the core, Deep Impact, Armageddon, now this. I hate disaster movies because they always make me feel like sick. I hate the way the whole world hangs on the threads of the american flag (no prejudice intended).

I just saw the trailer before Return of the King and it states "From the makers of Independance Day", well I didn't like that and this looks the same just with weather instead of aliens.

Exactly!

Oh...wait.... Was that a critique of Kong's comment, or a critique of the lack of creativity in Roland Emmerich's banal disaster oriented writing/directing?

Just remember that Kong was simply pointing out that the films had little more substance than the destruction of cities, and that Emmerich is the one to blame for this.

You can't expect insight when the topic is idiotic.

Trailers are made for judging. Kong knows that the movie may be better or worse than the trailer leads him to believe, but Kong can't help but have an opinion on something he's seen even if it is only a teaser.

It is alright to have an opinion. To really say that a movie looks no good just because that one part, that is just ( in my opinion ) just too silly.

Maybe, but to say it looks awesome is equally silly. The truth of the matter, as we all know, is that we really have no idea. Nonetheless, we are supposed to form an opinion based off of what we're shown, and so we do.

One of the things Kong used to worry about was that his opnion about a trailer (if it was too strong in either direction) might have an effect on what he thought of the movie once he had finally seen it. But, Kong has dismissed this idea now, becuase he's loved quite a few movie's that had awful, awful trailers (Freaky Friday for instance), and vice versa.

The truth seems to be that good movies are good enough to tear down your preconceptions, and bad movie are transparent enough to recognize regardless of how good you may have expected them to be.

So, now Kong lets his opinions on trailers run wild.

Kong's most loved current trailer: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Most hated: The Mask 2

In my theater too ! It was like "What the sh*t is this??" or "Get off the screen! Even just pure laughter. The trailer/teaser (whatever) just sucked, as well as the whole idea. I'm shocked and embarrased for New Line.

I agree, in fact you might have a good idea for a movie there, do one involving 4 or 5 points of view each from a different location on the globe and how their lives are all affected by this comming disater but they never actually meet one another
