I have just come across this film on IMDb and it is fair to say I am a little excited, the story is a simple one of a true immigrant story set against the vibrant backdrop of Flushing, N.Y. in the 1980s and 1990s but what gets me the most is who is behind this. Martin Scorsese is the executive producer and Wai-keung Lau is directing it. I love this because Lau made Infernal Affairs and Scorsese did The Departed which is based on IF. Here is a trailer:

Looks promising! I loved Infernal Affairs, and this looks like it has similar types of themes. I heard it's being released on VOD for a month before a limited theater release, so maybe I'll check it out that way.



I've been looking forward to this for a while. It's based on a fascinating piece of crime journalism by Fredric Dannen (same title as movie, published in The New Yorker, Nov. 16, 1992), who also wrote Hong Kong Babylon.
