THE STREET FIGHTER (1974)
UK:87 (cut) / USA:75 (R-rated) / USA:91 (unrated)

Directed by
Shigehiro Ozawa

If you've got to fight...fight dirty!

A supreme mothaf@ckin fighting machine this guys one tough cookie. just from the amount of nostral flearing you'd think he's got some serious problems but that's just part of his stlye and fighting technic, Sonny's cool he's super cool. Everything this guy does is for his benifit and his benifit only.

The stories simple Sonny's a reckin ball a causes distruction were ever he goes. He does what he likes, when he likes and there's nobody there to stop him. It's pure electric Sonny's got it where it counts and even got some to spare the sidekicks there for the comic relief and the women are for Chiba's amusment.

Sonny- We had a deal, I don't like promises that arn't kept.

Vilonce is eplenty gore comes in many fasions head's being crushed, people going out windows, people's throats rip-out,testics grad and torn and that's just the start. If you're going to watch this film make sure you get the original uncercored widescreen version.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Forgive my stupidity, I had this confused with the 90's Van Damme bomber Street Fighter.

Have you seen This movie Spud tell me what you think about it.

Everything "LB Jeffries"said is absolutely true. This is indeed one of the coolest martial arts films ever. With mindblowing violence and razorsharp dialogfue the whole thing is garenteed to bring a smile to any fan of the genre.

With Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL just around the corner it seems like an apt time to talk about one of the Kung Fu classics that inspired the film. Tarantino himself sites STREETFIGHTER, the LONE WOLF & CUB saga and the early Bruce Lee films as key films that made him fall in love with the genre. (They play in the background of Tony Scott's TRUE ROMANCE as well)

Sonny Chiba is the coolest cat this side of Toshiro Mifune and Tomisaburo Wakayama (Japanese for Steve McQueen). Awesome skill and violent confontations are the order of the day for this guy.

One of my all time faves and certainly worthy of repeat viewings this is must see for martial arts fans.

It was beauty killed the beast.
On one hand it's bad, but on the other it's entertaining, kung-fu insanity.

Anyone else squeeze their legs together and hunch forward during the testical tear-off?

Also, does anyone else have any idea how they achieved the knife being thrown into that dude's eye? Most of the SFX weren't particularly impressive, but that one was actually quite good.

Yep the nut rip is as groin rippingly uncomfortable for us males as teh nail through the scrotum in Wes Craven's THE SERPENT & THE RAINBOW. You cant watch without crossing the legs and wincing.

As for the eye SFX unfortunately not sure, it does stand out as one of the juicer pieces of ultra violence in this blood soaked, carnage filled film.
