1940 Movie - Too Late The Hero

Could anyone who is familiar with this movie, recount for me the battle scene ending? I have been trying to locate the name of a WW2 movie set on a Japanese Island where a small force of Allied soldiers make a long run through the jungles from a huge Japanese force, ultimately making a last-ditch stand near a beach area. They hole up and make a last-line of defense behind sandbags or some type of defense near a structure. There is a huge open area between them and the edge of the jungle, and the Japanese come out of the jungle in endless waves. Right before you think the allies are toast, a large American force makes a beach landing and saves them from the remaining Japanese force. I can't remember much else about it, but it was one of my all-time favorite war movies as a teen. Any help here would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks!
