New Spoilers Tag

Aloha MoFos.

As most of you have probably noticed, the spoiler tags around have a few flaws. They work beautifully most of the time, but "break" when more than one is used in the same post. This doesn't come up too often, but does happen now and then when people quote a post with a spoiler tag in it and use one in their reply as well, for example.

I tried to fix this some time ago, but because of the way the spoilers tag worked, I had a lot of trouble, and eventually put the issue on the backburner, since it wasn't happening too often.

Well, the spoilers tag has been updated, and now you can use as many in a given post as you like without any problems. There have also been some improvements, mainly that you can now click anywhere on the spoiler box to reveal the text. The View/Hide link is a bit smaller, too, but other than that they look about the same as they did before, and you can still highlight the text with your mouse. For example:

Chris dies at the end of this post.

The new spoilers have been tested in IE 6, IE 7, and FireFox 2. I'll be testing them out in FireFox 3 Beta tonight, but I'm confident it'll work fine with it as well.

On the user-side, the tags work exactly the same as before, and the change is completely retroactive, so all old spoilers will work in the new way. Nice to have this particular bug sorted out at long last.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
