I don't think anyone has included Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O'Neill in SG1. The part was written very well, but he pulled off the irreverence of the character very well in how he acted the part.

Yeah, I don't know how in the wide history of television that one was overlooked. And oversight, to be sure.

hmmm... trying to decide if Pike was actually agreeing, trying to be funny, or just being an ass... I know what I think offhand, and how I'd like to reply, but I'll wait on that

I do agree with Jack O'Neill being a great TV character too.
He made that roll his and fans loved him for it.
Once he left the show, SG-1 just wasn't the same.

There have been alot of charatcetrs that I've loved over the years, but here's a list from some of the comedies I've loved.

Cybill

McHale's Navy
Lt. Cmdr. Quinton McHale, Ensign Parker and Capt. Binghamton.

Laverne and Shirley
Lenny and Squiggy

Put me in your pocket...
And a special kudos too Batman.

I'm not sure if this counts, since they're originally from a comic, but I still LOVE the cheezy characterizations.

In particular I love...

Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin.
I don't know how they could keep a straight face while delivering some of those lines.

Catwoman....Julie Newmar was my favorite foe.
And as far as the movies go...no other actress matches her.

Other favorite foes....
The Penguin....Burgess Meredith was perfect.

The Riddler...Frank Gorshin's laugh was infectous.

Egghead...Vincent Price.
What a treat to see him as an eggcellent villian.

I miss cheese like this.

The People's Republic of Clogher
In no particular order (apart from the first one)...

Ronnie Barker as Norman Stanley Fletcher. Porridge

Bernard 'Theoden' Hill as Yosser Hughes. Boys From the Black Stuff

Jimmy Nail as Oz Osbourne. Auf Wiedersehen Pet (original run)

Ken Branagh as Billy Martin. The Billy Plays

The great John Thaw as Inspector Morse (left, obligatory bungling sidekick Sgt Lewis on right). Inspector Morse

And finally Ian McShane as Albert Swearengen. Deadwood

Only one of 'em's dead!
