What music would have played at your funeral?

Some people leave a will specifying exactly what to play while they are being buried. Or maybe it's just a movie cliché, I don't know. Still, I'd tell people to play this when my days run out:

What would your last song be?

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

I have a different question....

Let's say you could set up a TV and a DVD/Blu-ray player, or something, at your funeral.

Would you run a MOVIE on it during your funeral and if so, what movie? Not that people have to really watch it, but it could just be to the side, playing.

To me, this sounds better than music.

I don't think I would want a movie playing at my funeral. I would rather it be a gathering of friends and family who just sit around and talk about all the good times we've had over the years.

Just here for the free donuts
I have actually thought about this very question quite recently and had an in-depth discussion about it with a co-worker. I decided that I would like to have a viking funeral, have my friends carry my body on their shoulders and be placed on a funeral pyre. I also decided that this song would be the soundtrack to said funeral march. Some melodic, depressive black metal would be just the ticket, specifically at around 2:38 of the song.

I am saying you can have all that, too. The movie would just be sort of like a shrine sitting in the corner of the room or maybe next to the casket. The movie -- or movies -- are playing on the TV, not that loud. You can go up and watch a little bit of it, but the movie's just there to show that the deceased loved movies, particularly that movie, and he or she wanted the movie shown at his/her funeral. It's not like people would actually sit and be forced to watch the whole thing. It's just there as a shrine. It's like going into a video store -- back in the Stone Age -- and they have movies playing on the TVs in the store. You don't actually really watch the movies, but they're there.

I'm sure SOMEONE has had a funeral where they did this idea.

I don't think there's one specific movie that I would want played at my funeral, but maybe some specific clips and quotes from some of my favorite movies.

For example:

From Star Trek II, Spock's funeral scene, all the way through to when Bones says "He's not really dead, as long as we remember him".

From Ghost, when Sam leaves, and he says to Molly, "The love you have inside, you take it with you".

From S.O.B., when Felix's friends give him a burial at sea, and Julie Andrews is singing "Oh Promise Me" in the background.

Well, yeah, you could always create a DVD containing bits from films like that.

Yasashii that's an awesome choice. One of the best movies of my childhood together with Pay it Forward and Forrest Gump

Mine would be something like

Well since I'm not dead and my funeral didn't occur yet, I'm gonna have to say that when my funeral does happen probably just nice soothing music.

And now imagine wanting your favourite pr0n film on your funeral and even if it's just on the side, playing, they still can hear the moaning. And a trollface on the coffin. The ultimate trolling even after death! That would be sooo cruel.
just nice soothing music.
Dope's Die MF Die is an ideal choice!
Inevitable End would be a great choice for a funeral song, actually.

No Hell of a doubt.

Second Choice.

Third Choice.

I said nice and soothing, not something that would wake me from the dead and give me a migraine.

I reckon so. Imagine somebody actually doing it and at the end somebody finds his body and a recorder and finds out the recorder didn't start!

The thing isolated becomes incomprehensible
here goes a different choice:

I would love to have this sang during the mass in my funeral... Well, not that I would care at the time, for obvious reasons, but still is a good way to go!
