Spielberg as at his best with his direction of the film, everything is well shot and well edited creating this absolutely masterful and enthralling adventure that sets the standard for the entire genre (no adventure film reaches the heights of Raiders, and I will be stunned if any film ever does).

The movie's plot itself is pretty heavily oriented around build-up and action and while it may be among the most expositional of the movies it manages to keep a strong pace all throughout which is a huge relief after seeing so many martial arts movies which just tend to die standing up between each fight scene.

I figured that I needed a special film to commemorate reaching 500 films in this thread, and what better choice than one of my true all-time favourites?

Im not against exposition based films, however, think if the film have enough rich characters, dramatic or humorous situations, and action to support the complicated plot?

From the idol scene, Indy running away from the natives, the Ark of the Covenant being opened, and especially the scene where faced with a swordsmen of considerable skill and flair, Indy brushes him off by shooting him all nonchalantly.

I understand that some people hate Kate Capshaw's character, but I find her to be a sarcastic match for Indy, and this second film seems more attuned to the horror comic films (aka graphic novels) which recently seem to be flooding the movie marketplace.
