There are a couple of interesting tweaks in this version of The Last House on the Left, especially in how it plays things extremely seriously; there's no diverting to wacky sheriff shenanigans whatsoever, while the violence on display isn't comically gruesome (with the possible exception of the film...

The sub-plot involving the police officers wasnt necessary really, it tried to include some comic relief into the film, but it was just a bit silly, and it was one of the many many examples of humour simply not working within a horror film.

For the most part, I enjoyed it. I really, really liked the second half, especially the last 5 minutes.

There will inevitably be those who say 'for the time, it was a good film'. To them, I would say it's not well planned, schlocky, sloppy trash with a few brief moments of shock.
