This is an adaptation of a manga (which I have not read), and the way the movie stylizes the dramatic qualities of such scenes, having characters stand off and bark out their motivations and then exploding into violence, brings to mind a live action cartoon.

Part Shawshank Redemption and part Mortal Kombat - which this movie inspired - the titular character is a man whose strength makes him impossible to detain since he can pull chains apart and whose punches shred human flesh to hilariously gory effect.

The concept of setting up vulnerable sympathetic characters to off-set the hero's invulnerability is barely developed beyond the film drawing a very black-and-white line between "good" prisoners and "bad" prisoners (hint: the good ones start treating Ricky as their saviour while constantly being mut...

See the film if any of this interests you, don't see it if you are seriously disturbed. But if you do watch it, watch it with a bunch of friends, it makes the comedy so much better.
