Like every good magic trick, The Prestige has a twist leaving us wanting more.

So the conflict at the core of the story is very reminiscent of conflict between Tesla and Edison but since Edison has lot of goons working for him that wouldn't make for a more pointed conflict if its exactly like that .

Review: If you like Christopher Nolan films with their mysterious existential elements and his highly stylized way of story telling, you should love The Prestige.

When a mistake on Bale's part results in the death of Jackman's wife (Piper Perabo), Jackman swears revenge by intending to become the best magician ever and ruin Bale by any means necessary, which naturally prompts Bale to retaliate in turn.

The film could have been done much better, and I'd say that it is my least favorite Christopher Nolan film even including The Dark Knight Rises.

Christopher Nolan has made better films, but none feels quite as complete as The Prestige.

And in 2006, no film felt more theatrical and operatic than this thought provoking, spellbinding mystery drama based on the Christopher Priest novel of the same name.

While I find it hard to really go into details on this, I will say one thing that should make your mind up, if you haven't seen this yet. The Prestige is a masterpiece in its own right.

It definitely doesn't have the power of his Batman films , but a visually pleasing behind the scenes look at this magician rivalry - has just enough character emphasis to keep you engaged.

All the ingredients were here, a director whom I greatly admire, two talented actors in the lead roles, a strong supporting cast and a great story, and although I enjoyed the film, there seemed to be something missing.
