I know I'm liking a movie if it gets me interested from the start and keeps me interested until the very end...and Quills kept me interested.
These moments do nothing to detract from the drama at hand, whether it's the antagonism building between Rush and Caine or the sexual tension between Winslet and Phoenix (or Winslet and Rush, or even Rush and Phoenix for that matter).
And there is one character in the film, a fellow inmate of the Marquis named Bouchon, who we do see being influenced by the Marquis' works.
The young wife of Cain and the architect, the man on horse, Marquis wife, everything seemed to be there but not really finished.
