Connor Macgregor Reviews...Batman Forever

So with Burton now out of the director's chair (As well as Keaton out the bat suit), It was finally time for The Batman Franchise to take a whole new direction, but seeing this being the 90s, it was bound to go wrong. Luckily, this wasn't the film that did just that...but it did set it up. This is my review of Batman Forever.

The Dark Knight of Gotham City confronts a dastardly duo: Two-Face and the Riddler. Formerly District Attorney Harvey Dent, Two-Face incorrectly believes Batman caused the courtroom accident which left him disfigured on one side; he has unleashed a reign of terror on the good people of Gotham. Edward Nygma, computer-genius and former employee of millionaire Bruce Wayne, is out to get the philanthropist; as The Riddler he perfects a device for draining information from all the brains in Gotham, including Bruce Wayne's knowledge of his other identity. Batman/Wayne is/are the love focus of Dr. Chase Meridan. Former circus acrobat Dick Grayson, his family killed by Two-Face, becomes Wayne's ward and Batman's new partner Robin the Boy Wonder.

For what this film is which is a fun blockbuster, it does the job reasonbly well. There are flaws, like the unfunny performance of Jim Carey we have seen so often now that its just tiresome. The fact that its more of a light show than an actual comic book film, or maybe that some of the dialogue is real corny and even doesn't make much sense. It sounds more like a self parody of comedy in general. I know it was meant to be lighter, but it didn't have to be so light, it was just corny to watch.

The Performances at best are average, but Val Kilmer is incredibly dull in that film and makes no effort at all to make his performance emotionally pulling to watch. Chris O Donnell & Nicole Kidman are average and are just there for a pay check and a good laugh really. Tommy Lee Jones i found very good and Jim Carey i mentioned is doing his usual routine which at this point in his career is getting old. Its funny because because of the overdone comedy in the film, the serious side of the story (Robin averaging his parent's death from Two Face) can't be taken that seriously.

Overall, Steller fun film to watch if your bored and in need of some 90s camp fun. Check it out.
