Flight of the Phoenix

Flight of the Phoenix, 2004

I rejoiced when I found this movie for $5.00 and was drawn in by Dennis Quaid's involvement, bu soon felt kind of ripped off.

The main part of this movie I didn't like was the very poor character development. We get no back story on anyone. They show us pictures for five seconds, then we basically never see nor hear from them again. Also, wanting to punch Giovanni Ribisi in the ribs then the doodle didn't help.

As for the acting, it was pretty mediocre, and this is coming from the Dennis Quaid appreciation thread starter. Some did well, Tony Curran did the best. Some looked liked they were having a seizure, Sticky Fingaz (yes, he is a rapper.) The rest of the cast do well enough to keep the movie going.

Another problem was the script. Some lines were unbelievable, for instance, the propeller popped off the plane and Mr. Quaid said "Oh crap", while fine I think a more realistic line would be "Oh ****,"" because that is what a normal person would have said. I also felt that they put in too many dramatics, I mean it was like freakin' Murphy's law out there. In about the last 10 minutes I counted 4 bad things that happened to them.

Rating:
All in all, the stupid events made what would have been a mediocre movie, into a poor movie.
