It has elements of cheesy acting, elements of genuine acting, humour, high octane action and high kicking stunts from The Plank, great effects and actually has a relatively complex plot.

It's not like there aren't a few good moments scattered throughout - Jean-Claude Van Damme's physicality gets memorably demonstrated quite a few times, even if the action scenes do get chopped up a bit too much for the hits to have quite that much impact.

I would have imagined they'd go down a fairly simple and obvious route; Van Damme goes way back in history and beats up some Genghis Khan-like guy and his armies for loads of action or goes into the future with robots armies to beat up, or goes back in time to fight himself (after all Van Damme play....
