Roary has found a sense of belonging, and I really liked how Savage showed this change in the character as the film went on.

Jerry and Roary end up becoming best friends, and although determined to put up money to financially aid the bar (which is in financial troubles), Roary also wants to help his friend get the operation he needs to embark on a basketball career - such is his talent.

It's interesting how the friendship between Roary and Jerry never affects their feelings about the rest of their friends at the bar and these friends never desert Jerry even though at a point they feel forgotten or when Roary feels betrayed by Jerry, the guys at the bar never take sides.
