During a shootout in a saloon, Sheriff Hunt injures a suspicious stranger. The doctor's assistant, wife of the local foreman, tends to him in prison. That night, the town is attacked and they both disappear�only the arrow of a cannibal tribe is found. Hunt and a few of his men go in search of the prisoner and the foreman's wife.

It follows in the footsteps of what makes Tarantino's movies a cut above in the dialog department, and certainly takes its sweet assed time establishing the characters and letting the viewer enjoy the ambiance, but ultimately goes for the male fantasy cop out and ventures into torture porn.

Though the film shrugs off its small-town setting long before the halfway mark, it still takes the time to set up a fairly well-realised town full of characters that involve a few recognisable actors making the most of bit parts.
