The use of Roger Corman's borderline camp classic The Terror (which stars Karloff, but also Jack Nicholson and Dick Miller) is also a great way to get those of us who love Karloff, oldtime horror and Roger Corman to totally buy into the film.

Conclusion - Targets may be a touch dated now; a little bit slow and rough around the edges, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very captivating and effective film, one that is well handled throughout by Bogdanovich and features a poignant, effective showing from acting legend, Bo....

Bogdanovich's deeply allegorical debut feature might just be one of the best under-mentioned horror thrillers of all time ... incredibly suspenseful and moving, as well as being a dream swan song for Karloff; elevates it to greatness..
