While many have failed of late (Prince of Persia, Transformers, Indy 4 etc) I'd put this up there with Iron Man, Star Trek and the first Pirates of the Caribbean film as a summer blockbuster that just perfectly captures the fun that you expect from this type of film.

It's not the greatest film, perhaps at times a bit too crowded with side characters and the standard establishment of roots over threat but it's a fine blockbuster and probably better than it should be..

As far as Marvel origin stories goes, it’s not quite as good as Iron Man, but pretty much ranks on level with The Incredible Hulk and the original X-Men..
