Great movie culture/movie adjacent books?

I just read Children of the Neon Bamboo---totally love, can't recommend enough-- and I'm looking for more of that movie watching culture in book form. I don't mean Hollywood, movie making lore. I mean stories involving watching movies, similar to Ready Player One, which I've already read (COTNB is better). Any ideas?

Not sure if this fits your criteria, but I Was a Teenage Slasher involves someone relying on slasher tropes to understand what is happening to him and his best friend.

That's pretty close-- checking it out now.

So something in a similar vein that I liked a bit more than I Was a Teenage Slasher is Final Girl Support Group. It takes place in a sort of alternate reality where slasher movies are based on true stories. I really enjoyed it, and it had some strong twists and turns along the way.

That one's added to my list too!
