Question about the plot to High and Low (1963).

So at the end of the movie the kidnapper is captured and arrested. Then it goes to the next scene, and Gondo doesn't have any of his money still and his house is seized. But why were the police not able to get back his money? The last we saw of the money, the kidnapper dumped it all out on the floor at his place. So wouldn't all that money still be stashed there, most likely? Did I miss something, or why were the police not able to get it back?
