Speed Racer: The Movie

All good people are asleep and dreaming.
With the recent slew of cartoons being made into movies, I thought it would be great if they made on of the better ones, Speed Racer, into a movie.

I would cast NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon in the role of Speed.

He's a damn good driver and he looks like Mr. Racer.

For the part of Trixie, I'd go with pop diva Britney Spears.

She'd appeal to adolesent boys who might not like cars yet.

In Sparky's role, Johnny Depp.

He just won "Sexiest Man Alive" and would bring schoolgirls into the theatre.

Mom and Pops Racer will be portrayed by Dianne Wiest and Brian Dennehy.

Dianne is good at playing moms and Dennehy is a big guy that can act.

Cast in the roles of Sprytle and Chimchim would be Jake Lloyd(The Phantom Menace) and Bubbles.

Jake Lloyd is the most annoying child actor right now, so he's a perfect fit for Sprytle.

Racer X would be played by Gary Oldman.

He's great at playing odd mysterious characters.

The plot would go like this.

Racer X is leading on points going into the last race.

Speed can beat him with a win.

All he cares about is winning.

The long season has been getting to Speed.

He's taking drugs to keep the edge.

He ignores his girlfriend Trixie.

But she has other plans.

Trixie has secretly been seeing Speed's rival, Racer X.

The Masked Racer doesn't love her, but uses her to manipulate Speed.

Speed's mechanic Sparky, a closet homosexual, is starting to fall in love with him.

Will Speed be able to keep it together for the race?

Will Sparky be able to concentrate on his job?

Will Tixie betray Speed?

Will the weight of Sprytle and Chimchim in the trunk cause him to lose the race?

Will Pops and Mom have more kids?

For the answers to these questions, you'll have to see SPEED RACER: THE MOVIE!!!

Pure gold, baby!

Pure Hollywood gold.

Vaughn Pushes Along Big-Screen 'Speed Racer'

The popular Japanese-made cartoon series Speed Racer is set to get the go-ahead from Warner Brothers - after actor Vince Vaughn sold them his concept for the movie. The Swingers actor has been cast as the title character's mysterious big brother Racer X after his vision for the film impressed studio bosses because it focused on character development and a family story in lieu, hence avoiding costly racing scenes. A Warner Brother spokesperson says no other talent is yet attached to the project. Vaughn will also hold an executive producer credit on the big-screen version of the popular Japanese animation centered on the adventures of a young driver named Speed and his supercharged racing machine - the Mach 5. He says, "I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid and always liked the theme of the protective older brother who can't reveal his identity."

I was half joking when I started this thread last year.

Knowing Hollywood, I knew they couldn't leave it alone.
