I just finished it and it's a great movie.

SPOILER

I was wondering if Virgil could have turned things more to his advantage though to keep himself safer, and to have more power in the investigation. The reason why Virgil is on the case is cause Mrs. Colbert threatened to take her business out of the town, unless Virgil was on the investigation of her husband's murder.

However, I felt that since the town i so desperate to have her business for their economy, that Virgil could have been made more demands in order to be on the case. Like why didn't he demand that the current police chief be relieved off duty and Virgil has authority over the rest of the department? That way he wouldn't have to worry about Gillespie always getting in his way.

And he could have also made the demand that he would only stay on the case, if they gave him a firearm, so that way he could defend himself better against the hostile citizens that want him gone.

What do you think? Either way though, really good movie.
