You can't win an argument just by being right!
Good list.

I would add

breaker Morant
Flame and Citron
Mrs Miniver

nd I just realised my list is so long the thread will explode. Probably every war movie I've seen. I really love this genre.

What do think of this list?
My immediate thoughts are that it's extremely English-centric (language not country) and In the Valley of Elah shouldn't be there.

No Battle Of Britain, Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now surprises me and Flags Of Our Fathers on a list without Letters From Iwo Jima is just plain wrong imo.

The best trilogy EVER!!!!
Tatsuya Nakadai it's one of the best actors of all time!!!!
It really is. I've seen Human Condition trilogy three times, and it gets better each time. Nice to see another fan! It's a shame not many people have seen it.

This might just do nobody any good.
The Playlist pitches in.

I'll highlight Stalag 17 which I only just saw for the first time a few months back and loved it. William Holden is so good and had a "who done it?" that kept me on my toes.

“I was cured, all right!”

Yes! Not only this trilogy but Masaki Kobayashi's works needs more attention!
The Human Condition trilogy, Harakiri (another great performance by Nakadai), Kwaidan, Izumi, Samurai Rebellion and so many others great works!!

I'm gonna try to limit it to just 10:

1. Full Metal Jacket
2. Glory
3. Black Hawk Down
4. Lawrence of Arabia (if it counts)
5. Cross of Iron
6. Zulu
7. The Patriot
8. The Thin Red Line
9. Saving Private Ryan
10. Hacksaw Ridge

HM: Bridge on the River Kwai, Jarhead, Platoon

Really excited to see Dunkirk as well.

Definitely agree. Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now are MUST HAVES.

Movie Forums Squirrel Jumper
The two best war movies ever for me are Schindler's List, and The Battle of Algiers, but it's hard to pick which is the best for me.

Good list. Saving private ryan is probably my best of all time. Love Tom hanks acting in the movie. Super!!!

I wasn't a fan of his Harakiri or Kwaidan, but I've not seen the rest. I want to see some of them, though, but I've been concentrating on other things.

I'm not as well versed as other in the war film genre as others but my list would go as follows
1- the hurt locker
2- saving private Ryan
3- hacksaw ridge
4- American sniper
5- full metal jacket
