What was this movie's title??

I think I saw it on HBO probably 10 yrs. ago. It was a black comedy. The lead male moved back in with mom and pop. Setting maybe in New England somewhere. Parents health was failing. Mom dies but her ghost keeps hanging around and will not leave him alone or quit nagging until he does some kind of ritual (I think). There is a hilarious hardware store scene. It was a funny movie. Steve Buscemi was in it maybe.
help me help me!
thanks, David

Dude, don't bump you own thread up. It's obnoxious.

Steve Buscemi was indeed in it. It's called Ed & His Dead Mother (1993). And it is currently available on DVD in both R1 and R2.

A novel adaptation.
Would you recommend it, Holds?
Because it looks interesting, but also really, really bad.

No, I wouldn't recommend it, even as a rental. It's fine if you come across it on cable TV (where it seems to live anyway), and Buscemi is just about always watchable as are Ned Beatty and John Glover, but it's below average in my book, barely worthwhile.

Gary Farmer, the heavy-set Indian named Nobody in Jarmusch's Dead Man (1995), does have a good little bit as the hardware store guy, but overall a very forgettable effort.

Eh. See it on HBO some wasted Saturday afternoon like everybody else who bothers watching it.
