Boogie Nights Debate

I just watched Boogie Nights again with a friend. After the movie, instead of commenting on the references to Scorsese movies or how good it was, all we could talk about was to debate as to whether Amber Waves actually loved Dirk or not. I don't mean mother/son love, but woman/man love. I think that the maternal part of Amber is a huge factor to the love, but I think she does actually loves him. I can cite several examples for conclusions, like for instance, my theory is backed up by her making out with him after telling him she loved him. A example for the mother son would be Amber always refering to Dirk as her baby boy. What are your opinions? (Give me some input please!)

Motherly love. She was the surrogate mother and Jack Horner was the surrogate father. Her sex with him was merely a way of showing her love for him. She was unable to express it in any other way.

Right on the mark with that one TSB.

Being that sex and porn was a big part of the Horners' lives,
they just simply could not separate the two, and Mrs. Horner could only do what she knew best for Dirk, and acted accordingly. The moral conflict was resolved by the fact that Mrs. Horner wasn't related to Dirk in any way, so it basically became a younger man older woman deal, with Mr. Horner not taking it personally because sex was his business, and as they say "it's just business, nothing personal."
