Which Terminator Status Do You Prefer?

What I mean by my question, do you prefer the Terminator as a hero or villian? In my opinion, the hero status of the Terminator gave the second Terminator film (my favourite of all time) some emotional heft, weighed against the bombastic action sequences. But I also think The Terminator of the first movie is one of the most effective villains in the history of slasher cinema. And it was the one role where Schwarzenegger's acting "skills" we're utilized perfectly, and gave him an iconic role.

I prefer it when the Terminator is the villain, especially when it's Arnie's model of Terminator. The T1000 prototype is second only to the T800.
So much more than just a bad guy, it's a force that has very little weaknesses that the meesly hoomuns have to fight against.

When he's a good guy, it kinda takes away the edginess of the character. You know he's deadly, just nowhere near as much fun.

Hero AND villain. The Terminator is what you program him to be.

I like him as the villain or hero. But hero. I want to actually be able to root for the Terminator.

I guess I've got to go with villain. It just made the first movie scarier. I loved him as a hero in the 2nd film but I wasn't as tensed up waiting for him to appear. Still, the action in both is gangbusters.
