My kids drove me nuts with High School Musical. Since then he's been bad-acting-eye-candy for teenyboppers and middle-aged woman who are fed up with their husbands.

Paperboy could change all that - the chick flicks/teeny films. Sounds a different direction for Zac Efron from the director of The Woodsman, and Precious. Haven't read the book so don't know how dark it is.
