Bundy: An American Icon / A Legacy Of Evil
Cert: 15

Genre: Horror/ Thriller/ True Crime

OOOOOOOOkkkkayyyyyyy! So we are once again given another chance to offer our grim facination towards the already documented Ted Bundy Story as told by the jeering public view that we get soooo bored of.

Although the movie has been given a better look, soundtrack and by far a much better cast of actors and production techniques, I still feel that the very movie lacks important research, almost deliberatley.

Having read 'the stranger beside me' by Ann Rule, a neutral unbiased friend of Bundy and viewed the endless stream of documentaries on Bundy, the list of events are (as usual) out of order or missing. Maybe I just had my idea of what the movie should be having read the books and couldn't adapt to the rapid degeneration that the movie focuses on, rather than an accurate catalogue of the events.

The main dissapointments for me was the missing first escape from the court house in Colorado and the 3 day pursuit across Aspen, instead only the second escape was placed in the movie from Colorado, even the location was incorrect, stating that he escaped from Florida, however that is where Ted escaped to and where he was finally put to death.

There was no mention of Ted's second girlfriend, only a focus on Stephanie Brookes. Nor was their any mention of Ann Rule's relationship or the Carol DaRonch failed kidnapping, even the arrest in Utah was incorrect, Bundy was chased through a residential area after speeding away from a police officer for no reason, not for napping in a lay-by and as for the tough talking police officer, give me a break.

Happy as I was to see the courtroom drama in this movie, there was still a lot of the trial that could have been played out some where, such as the cross examination of his own dental records and the Kimberley Leach trial climax when Bundy was first placed in custody in Florida.

This movie and the whole Bundy theme should either be put to rest for good or in my honest opinion, the Americans should leave it well alone. True crime films should be balanced and intelligent, not just leaned toward the jeering public, I mean i'm not saying that we should make a movie to worship people like Bundy, I would just be pleased to see a movie about Bundy that didn't have so much violence and had more of the charming grim celebrity that he was.

The most important sections of Bundy's personal development are left untouched in this movie, the only theme that is included is the illegitamate and pornography bull**** was the cause of this curious character. The most important factor, Bundy's ego, the man who won the election for the govenor and excelled in his studies, the disguises and most of all, the media celebrity after his spree, all missing in this movie.

Please, I am calling all British film makers, make this movie what it should be, nobody beleived that Bundy was a killer when he was alive, so that is how we should see him in the movies.

Overall, this movie is dissapointing, however if you have never really studied the catalogue of events or have never heard of Bundy, this movie is by far the best produced movie to date on the subject.
