Maybe he was kidding? Or doesn't like Michael Mann.
He's not kidding, he does like Michael Mann, and they're all really good films. Well, I haven't seen Public Enemies yet, but the other two are.

I'm mostly familiar with Michael Mann's work in the 90s, particularly Last of the Mohicans and Heat.

Linklater - Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise
I agree with that being his best three film run.

Alex Gibney - Taxi To The Dark Side, Gonzo, Casino Jack

Enron is my favourite of his but i think this was clearly his best run.

And Changeling is in between Letters and Gran Torino. Think he was just naming his three favourites.

Haven't seen The Bridges of Madison County yet, but i imagine Unforgiven to that would be my favourite from Eastwood since Unforgiven and A Perfect World are my two favourites.

Welcome to the human race...

Yeah, I'm hoping that Everybody Wants Some will form a slightly inferior but still solid run with Before Midnight and Boyhood.

Steven Spielberg: Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan.
There's definitely at least a couple of films between Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, though.

Another one - Edgar Wright, whether it's Shaun/Fuzz/Pilgrim or Fuzz/Pilgrim/End (but I'd probably give the edge to the former).
