Rumors and Scandal Game

I thought this might be fun. I'll make a statement about a celebrity, something scandalous or rumored to be true. You tell me whether you think it's true or not. If you know the answer or have any information about the accusation post it.

Here, I'll start with an easy one:

True or Rumor:

Momma Cass of the rock group "The Momma's and the Papa's" died by choking on a ham sandwich on July 29th, 1974.

I'll post what I know about the story in a few days. I'll take the information from a few books written about Hollywood.

I have heard that before, but I don't have a clue whether it's true or not. I would bet on true.

Barbra Streisand used to perform in pornographic movies before she became famous.

note: these stories are not made up. They are actual items that appeared in newspapers, or rags. But, they may not be true...then again they might be. You decide.

Cass Elliot’s autopsy said she died from heart failure… no drugs in her system and no ham sandwich…

The Mama Cass thing is a only rumor. Cass Elliot died of a heart attack. There was in fact a partially-eaten ham sandwich near the bed where she died, thus the rumor was born from earliest reports. The persistence of this bit of folkmusic babylon has more to do with giggle-inducing fat-bias in this country than anything. Of course it was her obesity that attributed primarily to her heart attack, at the age of only thirty-three, which isn't really funny at all.

Jamie Lee Curtis was born a hermaphrodite (having both male and female genitalia).

Well, these are both very popular scandals, but I'm still not sure of the truth. Apparently, both are false. I've seen a TV special on hermaphrodites before. Jamie Lee doesn't really seem like one. But, you never know.

Yeah… the Gere story is false… it surfaced in the 80’s soon after the release of Pretty Woman when someone flooded fax machines in California falsely claiming to represent the SPCA with the story… I always wondered who lost the part in Pretty Woman…
