Hey all fellow movie junkies, I’ve updated this list for the remainder of the year and added some of what’s left of 2008’s most anticipated releases. It’s not very blockbustery because I don’t really know much about blockbusters and I think the summer season is past is peak maybe? Is there another superman film, James Bond and the Watcher yet to come out? … I know a lot of these film (Synecdoche NY, ect) have already been mentioned. So… What are you guys excited about the most? For me Blindness sounds like a stomper, no really it looks so good, plus Vicky Christina Barcelona (as I’m a big Woody Allen fan) and also Revolutionary Road as I’ve read the book and it’s a darn good story… Any ones I missed out? I think all release dates are for US… There’s sure to be an Oscar or 7 in this list… ps this is a really long post so don’t hate on me for typos. Love Betty.

American Teen (July 25). Point of the film: A documentary on seniors at a high school in a small Indiana town and their various cliques. Thoughts; “I think its one of those ones you need to see to rate, Could be sentimental, could be interesting…”

Blindness (August 8). Director: Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardner). Stars: Gael Garcia Bernal, Mark Ruffalo, Julianne Moore. Point of the film:"white blindness" epidemic sweeps a country not identified. Those first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created "society of the blind" quickly breaks down. Criminals and the physically powerful prey upon the weak. Was a favorite for the Palm De Ore, but lost. Thoughts; “bring it on, looks awesome”.

Pineapple express(August 8). Director: David Gordon Green. Stars: Seth Rogen & James Franco (yum). Point of the film: the new Judd Apatow film which isn’t directed or “screen play written” by him. Pot head and dealer run away from police after a murder. Thoughts; “the plot sounds awful but they do seem to make decent films”.

Tropic Thunder (August 15). Director: Ben Stiller. Stars: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Junior, Steve Coogan. Point of the film: Actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying. Thoughts; “upset someone famous (I can’t remember who) because Junior plays a black character, but I think that’s kind of the point of the film. I can’t imagine it being any good anyway”.

Vicky Christina Barcelona (August 15). Director: The legend that is, MR WOODY ALLEN. Stars: Penelope Cruise and what’s her face, scarlet Johansson. Point of film. Crazy Allen love triangle but in the summer sun of Barcelona. Thoughts; “New York misses you Woody”.

Burn After Reading (September 12) Director: Mr & Mrs Coen. Stars: Tilda Swinton, Brad Pitt and Gorge Clooney. Point of the film: Memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it. Thoughts; “could this be a return to quirky Coen? Man they followed up NCFOM quick”.

Body of Lies (October 10) Director: Ridely Scott. Stars: Leo DeCaprio. Point of the Film; A former journalist injured in the Iraq war is hired by the CIA to track down an Al Qaeda leader in Jordan. Based on the novel "Body of Lies" by David Ignatius. Thoughts; “its going to be a car crash, never liked post Thelma & Louise Scott”.

The Brothers Bloom (October 24) Director: Rian Johnson. Stars Adrian Broody. Point of the film; The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they've decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world. Thoughts; “dunno actually, will have to see a trailer. If it’s bad at least he will have Brick to back up his credentials”.

RockNRolla (October 31) Director: give it up ladies and gentlemen for MR GUY RITCHIE. Stars; Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, Gerard Butler. Point of the film; In London, a stolen painting pits some of the city's scrappiest tough guys (Butler, Elba) against its more established underworld players. Thoughts; “I bet you £10 there’s a Madonna song in the sound track. Erm Wilkinson only attaches himself to strong movies so maybe….!”

The Changeling (November 7) Director: Clit Eastwood. Stars: Angelina Jolie. Point of the films: spooky child swapping drama, 1940s/50s costumes. Thoughts; “well it competed at Cannes and had very good write ups. Jolie and Clit will get Oscar Nods”.

Australia (November 14) Director: Baz Lurhman. Stars: Nicole Kidman and Russell Crow, correction – Hugh Jackman. Point of the film. English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch reluctantly pacts with a stock-man in order to protect her new property from a takeover plot. As the pair drive 2,000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape, they experience the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by Japanese forces firsthand. Thought: “God this film took ages to make, sounds very serious, will there be music numbers and sequins among the sheep?”

Brothers (December 4) Stars: Natalie Portman & Jake Gynynynyhall (or how ever you spell it) Point of the film; Young man comforts his older brother's wife and children after he goes missing in Afghanistan. Based on Susanne Bier's film, "Brothers. Thoughts; “I love Natalie Portman, I want her to win a Bafta and I aint even seen it!”

Milk (December 5) Director: Gus Van Sant. Stars: Sean Penn. Point of the film; The story of California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. Thoughts; “Really pleased that Sean Penn is playing gay leading role. It has Oscar written all over it. F****G love Gus as well. Big shot outs to him, much love man , much love”.

The Reader (Decemeber 12) Director: Stephen Daldry. Stars: Kate-never-wins-nothing Winslet and Ralph Fiennes. Point of the film; In postwar Germany, a young man’s decades-long obsession with an older woman runs headlong into a war crimes trial, where he learns an awful truth. Thoughts; “some serious talent behind and in front of the camera, this one has GOOD FILM written all over it”.

Revolutionary Road (December 19) Director: Sam Mendes. Stars: Kate-never-wins-nothing-Winslet, Leo DiCaprio. Point of the film. Novel to film adaptation of Richard Yates Famous novel. America, 1940s, domestic problems, alienation. Thoughts; “well same as above really, just hope Leo don’t f**k it up”.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (December 19) Director: David Fincher. Stars: Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett. Point of the film; Tells the story of Benjamin Button, a man who starts aging backwards with bizarre consequences. Thoughts “there’s building hype around this film as a potential real Oscar contender. Ohhh I’m frightened”.

Synecdoche NY. Director: Charlie Kaufman. Stars: a lot of people, including JENIFER JASON LEIGH, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Michelle Willaims and EMILY WATSON, yeahhhh. Point of the Film; A theater director (Hoffman) struggles with his work, and the women in his life, as he attempts to create a life-size replica of New York inside a warehouse as part of his new play. Thoughts “for a directional debut, he’s certainly not doing to bad for publicity… I think it competed in Cane… Could be great could be bad, certainly on to watch”.

Bloody hell, I need a fag and a cuppa tea now.

that it would. I imagine Edward wouldn't do so well on a tanning bed.

I agree, can't wait to see Knight and Day. Inception looks like it should be incredible. Plus it's got Joseph Gordon Levitt who I think is extremely talented.

Mission Impossible 23 is supposed to be the really good one.
Unless Hollywood creates some new film making process, and they keep making new Mission Impossibles every month and releasing them the month later, I don't think I will be alive then.
