Margot Robbie

No I'm not gonna see Barbie, but I think Margot Robbie as the most adorable actress since Cameron Diaz in her prime.

There's just one thing, why does she talk like she's from New York or Jersey? She's Australian! What the hell?! Its not just Wolf of Wall Street, but as Harley Quinn or in Amsterdam she sounds Jersey. Even in interviews I've seen with her I detect 0 aussie in her dialect. Nicole Kidman is from Australia, and in interviews you can hear it.

Why does she talk like she's from Jersey?! Is it just me?

I think she's just about done. She's a star who depends heavily on her ethereal beauty, and that doesn't last. She starting to show her age and her zone is "Hot Chick." She'll be replaced by a young woman from Disney+ very soon. Disney produces fresh faces the way a shark cuts teeth.

Far from done, America loves her! For me, there are many more worthy actresses to throw poo at.

I'm not throwing poo at her. She has been generally competent in the roles she's had. However, her "shtick" is to be "that girl" in the aspirational stratosphere of top 1% beauty. Actresses usually hit the wall around the same age as NFL running backs (around 30), and she's 33. Your crystal turns. You go to carousel. You hope for mom roles on the Lifetime channel. She's a younger version of Jaime Pressly (45) who is now aged out and was literally on a show called "Mom" from 2013-2021.

Central casting always has another one to send down.

She hasn't disappointed me, as of yet.

She's been pretty good. I hope that she finds some good transitional roles in the next few years. It's easier to be Leo De Caprio than Meryl Streep; Hollywood wants actresses in the De Caprio age-range if you know what I mean.

While you aren't wrong Hollywood does push women out, when they hit a certain age they also keep some around. Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Sandra Bullock you need to fill roles with certain actresses. Now could Margot fall off as the year's go by sure...it's possible. Margot is set for the next five years now and she's in a better place than her contemporaries Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence

It's possible for Margot to be an all-timer this is year ten for Margot and she just hit her apex. She's already had a longer run than Marilyn Monroe

Theron did herself a favor by playing against type in portraying Aileen Wurnos. Even Brad Pitt had to play some "ugly" roles to get respect. He started with the creep in Kalfornia and then drifted into his "crazy man" 12 Monkeys phase before basically just playing Aldo Raine in every film (every film after Inglorious Basterds should have him listed as "Also Raine"). I think he was fighting the pretty boy thing for a solid decade. Sometimes that can help. Bullock also got herself inserted as a start in some conventional dramas allowing her to prove she was more than a pretty face. If Robbie can get a shot at playing against type, I think she might have a similar chance, but she is kind of cursed by her "Barbie" looks.

She already has...Margot has versatility.

You should also check out Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017) she has a very strong British accent The women who really fall off the cliff are the Sharon Stones or Meg Ryan's who only really work in one genre and those genre's become unfashionable.

I think Margot Robbie is a much better actress than Cameron Diaz or Jaime Pressley. These feel to me like unfair comparisons.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing that can give her longevity. I only really see her blip on my radar screen for stuff like Harley and the aspirational beauty of Wolf of Wall Street. I only watched a few minutes of Babylon because it wasn't my tempo. She needs an Oscar bait role like this that gets her some real acclaim.

Sharon Stone was never much, most noted for flashing Michael Douglas.

Meg Ryan, on the other hand, had a very good run as America's sweet heart right up to Sleepless in Seattle. Meg's looks fell off, however, and she couldn't play cute and pouty anymore. Sadly, she took some rather degenerate roles in the attempt to break character, but it was too late at that point as her later vehicles didn't really command an audience. She was sending dead letters at that point. She attempted to make the turn too late. Didn't she also have some unfortunate plastic surgery?

Sharon Stone was never much, most noted for flashing Michael Douglas.

Stone broke out in Total Recall, had a monster hit with Basic Instinct and followed that up with two number 1 films...The Specialist and Sliver. She then started her decline with solid films that weren't huge hits like The Quick and the Dead, Casino, and Antz. Her Hollywood shelf life was 8 years on top and now she's just a minor player.

Meg Ryan had a slightly better run with When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seatle she had a solid run of 100 million dollar rom coms from French Kiss to You've Got Mail to City of Angels. But by 2001 Hollywood had moved on she had a few major flops and the Romcom genre had died out.

Margot has gotten over the hump of failing and fad based actresses.

Fair enough. You seem to be more familiar with her career track. Still, I suspect we won't be hearing much from her six years from now. Put a clock on it and crow when I'm wrong.

Or... she could just be a hotter version of Meryl Streep!

But is she?
