Netflix Deleting Over 50 Titles In October, Adding 19 More (Full List)

October is only a day away. Unfortunately, that means a bunch of classic films are leaving Netflix, since it’s expensive to continue licensing films and TV shows that nobody is watching. That said, some of the decisions on films and TV shows set to be axed are bound to create controversy, since the departing titles include such popular picks as the Ghostbusters movies, Battlestar Galactica, and Ghost.

So which films are vanishing from the Netflix queue in just under 24 hours?

Well, looks like I'm going to be watching The African Queen tonight. Everything that I want to see I've already seen (although I did want to show my girlfriend Primal Fear, sadly).

Ones I am pleased to see:

Rain Man (arriving Oct. 31)
Gilmore Girls
Django Unchained
Kramer vs. Kramer
Galaxy Quest
Sleepless in Seattle
Team America: World Police
In a World…

Most of these I have seen and I knew that Gilmore Girls was coming as my Facebook feed has been flooded with information and discussion about this. I am a bit surprised they are removing Ghostbusters but I wonder if they are because of the cinema releases?

That's right, Arrow season 2 is going to finally be streamable in October. I've been looking forward to that one for a while now (planning on catching up on that in time for Season 3).

Gah. I decided to catch up on Arrow and ended up buying season 2. If I'd known I could've waited a month for it to be on Netflix I would've. Oh well.

Lord High Filmquisitor
It was originally supposed to come out in September, but I guess somebody finally realized that it would precede the DVD / BluRay release and compete with their sales.

Always more leaving than coming in. SMH
True enough and sad for movies fan.

Netflix is poor at removing the non available titles from their site. You can SAVE them to you queue but they're not available. With the way that Block Buster and Hollywood Video went, I wonder what the future holds for Netflix.
