Dragonslayer?
Correct.
Wow, that was just a lucky guess. I haven't seen Dragonslayer since it was in the theater, but I remember it because it's the only movie I ever saw where I had to sit in the very first row of the theater. I vowed never to do that again because I left the theater with a stiff neck.

It's not Spaceballs or Galaxy Quest, but it is a sci-fi movie.
