oh and I don't really know. My parents ain't really into movies like I am, outside of just watching casually for whatever is on.

*edit* though I think I get my love of movies from my grandpa, who literally sits and watches westerns all day whenever he can. I remember as far back whenever I went to their house I had to suffer through westerns being on the TV all the time. Eventually it wore off. Now I love em' to death.
Similar, here. My dad loved westerns and I used to watch them because he was in charge of which channel played. Now I like them, partly because they remind me of him.

My parents hated Reservoir Dogs, and my sister hates Rushmore. She's only my half-sister.

I find the biggest discrepancy to be movies with excessive violence, gore, and/or crude humor or anything they might consider artsy. A great example would be Hero. While my dad did not hate it, he thought it was slow and not really worth watching.

My Mom used to hate pretty much all of the movies that I watched, seeing as though they were quite "mature" (I hired Boogie Nights when I was twelve). But as the years have gone by, she has grown to realise that I like these "adulterated" (not porn) or "gory" films not because I am perverted or a sicko in some way, its because I love film.

She now even tries to "get into" some of the movies that I like; she saw Kill Bill: Vol. 2 with my brother & I, and she even attempted to watch [i]Irreversible[/b] (but she didn't make it past the first scene).
