Mrs. BDT to y'all
i'd have 2 say Goodfellas, such a good film with an outstanding performance from Ray Liotta.

So many good movies, so little time.
1. Goodfellas
2. Mean Streets
3. Raging Bull
4. King of Comedy
5. Taxi Driver

1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. Casino
4. Raging Bull (maybe i'll see it a few more times)
5. Gangs of New York (sorry but i havent seen any of Marty's efforts pre-Taxi Driver, if i had i know it would overtake this)

i would like to ask all of the Last Temptation of Christ fans to explain to me why they found it so good. When i watched it i was utterly dissapointed and bored. I dont think it does the novel credit. I know Holden Pike has already done a review in his great Scorsese thread but id like to ask the public exactly, why?
especially as to what level it surpasses Scorsese's other greats.

ps. i know this is disagreeable but i also found Harvey Keitel and Willem Defoe were in their least impressionable efforts to me

His top 3 IMO are:

Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, and Raging Bull.

In no particular order.

4th is The King of Comedy.

Without a doubt it's Goodfellas for me. I love the way he creates an emotional bond with characters who really aren't that likable by introducing them at an early age. This allows us to see how they may have been seduced by the power/money/influence available to them. I've always thought the most interesting character in the film was played by Lorraine Bracco (sp?) if only b/c she enters their world as an adult and is still sucked in... That's why I love the scene where they enter the Copa (I think it was the Copa) from the back and the table magically appears in front of the stage... Film making at its finest folks!

I love 35mm ^_^
Raging Bull was good, but I loved The Aviator. I think Scorcese is way overdue for best director. Taxi Driver and Goodfellas proved that.

This is not personal so please do not take it as such..but:

Taxi Driver is so overated & I will tell you why:

1. It may be decades ahead of its time, but does that alone make it great?
NO

2. It glorifies things that as a Father I cannot connect with.

3. I have to admit the acting is great, but at the same time it is shallow.

4. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, which hey some may sat that it is supposed too, but I say blehhhh, I hate bitter tastes.

This is my opinon and by no means do I disagree with anyone who likes it, as they say there is no accounting for tastes, but I hate this movie....sry but I do , I am big enough to say that on this forum. I guess my tastes are a bit ...uh.....minoritized or sumtin....
