What do you think will get nominated for best picture at the Oscars?

The odds are getting slimmer for Glenn Howerton's BlackBerry performance. Oh well, he and Jay Baruchel will likely get Canadian Screen award noms.

The PGA announced their nominees today, for the prize that correlates to Best Picture at the Academy Awards...

American Fiction
Anatomy of a Fall
Barbie
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
Oppenheimer
Past Lives
Poor Things
The Zone of Interest

Last year there were three differences between the PGA ten and Oscar's. They both had Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick and both selected EEAAO as the winner but the PGA rounded their ten out with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and The Whale while The Academy went with All Quiet on the Western Front, Triangle of Sadness, and Women Talking.

I’m thinking now that these 10 films will end up matching up with the Oscar best picture lineup. What do you think?

American Fiction
Maestro
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Barbie
Poor Things
Air
The Boy and the Heron

But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!” ~ Rocky Balboa

American Fiction
Maestro
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Barbie
Poor Things
Air
The Boy and the Heron
I agree with the first seven, but I don't see Air or The Boy and the Heron getting nominated. They didn't get nominated for PGA, SAG, or DGA and aren't likely to get nominated in many other categories. Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall and Zone of Interest are far more likely to get nominated for best picture.

I've heard conflicting information on whether Barbie will be nominated (if it is) for Best Original Screenplay or Best Adapted Screenplay.

I believe the rules were changed again last year to assure there will always be ten BP nominees each year. You know, until they change the rules again. But for now, I believe we are guaranteed ten.

The PGA 10 made it, as many of us predicted:

American Fiction
Anatomy of a Fall
Barbie
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
Oppenheimer
Past Lives
Poor Things
The Zone of Interest
