Best Bond Movie?

What do you think the best Bond movie is? I'm thinking Goldeneye.

I've only seen most of the new ones, and pieces of the old ones...I think "The World Is Not Enough" was far better than "Goldeneye" or what I saw of "Tomorrow Never Dies" - it was funny, and filled with action. It stretched the limits like a Bond movie should, but I don't think it got totally ridiculous.

Oh man did I not like The World Is not Enough. I thought it was horrible. The plot freaking sucked. There were only two good things about it, the Christmas line, and the fact that Denise Richards was in it.

Plot was fine - couldn't find much wrong with it. A few twists and turns - nothing out of the ordinary...fairly straightforward.

Besides, the opening scene was totally amazing - just wouldn't stop! Bond was a total whore in that movie though - 3 women in all, I believe. A little over the top really.

Jokes were good, though.

Bond is always getting action from every chic in the movie. Its how he is. The opening was cool, but the opening to Goldeneye was so much better. And Goldeneye for nintendo 64 for was so much fun, it still is.

Yes, Goldeneye was one killer videogame! That's a different matter, however.

Yeah, Bond sleeps around...but not usually THAT much. The movies should be like a guy's dream (sort of): girls, gadgets, and saving the world again and again. Goldeneye's opening was okay - but the plane thing was a bit over the top.

I want things that are plausible, but still on the edge...for me, the plane thing went over the edge - rather than "Whoa! That was great!" I think "Yeah, right."

It was still cool...but too unrealistic for me. I like my movies extreme, but realistic. Some people have a different approach I suppose!

Ok then, what about the scene in TWINE where he went off the cliff on skis and cut the paratroopers parachute, and the snowmobiles engine stopped. That wouldn't happen. And what about that whole tunnel scene? That was just to weird for me. It felt like the pod race scene in Phantom Menace, it lasted to long considering you knew how it was going to end from the begining. The plane scene was cool. I just think overall the movie had the best plot and best people in it. I mean it had 006 in it.

I liked Goldeneye overall better than TWINE and Tomorrow Never Dies (though I enjoyed TWINE a good deal). The one thing about Goldeneye that made it seem so much better to me was that it came after a long layoff of good Bond films (a long layoff of Bond films, in general, too) and it restored the franchise. It was exciting to sit in the theater right before Thanksgiving in whatever year that was (1995, I suppose) and see Bond restored to his rightful glory. The later films cannot match that no matter how good they are, in my opinion.

The parachute thing was plausible - way more than the plan thing. That was just nuts, in my not-so-humble opinion.

The tunnel thing was great - classic Bond in my opinion. My only gripe is that they need to get in the habit of killing off a somewhat important person in each movie, so scenes like that become more surprising. They do this now and then, but it needs to become a habit.

Yes, we knew Bond would live - if he didn't, they'd get a lot of complaints.

Hi,

Even though I didn't see the classic bond films first time round (I am too young) they were recently all re-run on television in England and I personally think that they were better than the modern films. Although they didn't feature all the special effects and stunts that TWINE and Goldeneye etc. feature I persoanlly think that the plot was better. Saying that I still think the modern ones are still excellent films and if I had to pick one of the newer ones Goldeneye would be my favourite.

P.S Hi, I just registered for the forums and it looks great!

Man, everyone likes Goldeneye...go figure. As for the older flicks: I'll have to find time someday to sit down and start watching them, as I'm sure they're worthwhile. Just havn't gotten around to it, and it'll be hard to watch them though after being so used to the cool, new ones.

Thanks for signing up, and for your comments Adam! We hope you'll stick around.

Everyone likes Goldeneye because it's the best! Superstation just got down doing 14 days of 007. They do it like every year. All it is, is a marathon of all the old Bond movies.

I like the older ones with Sean Connery. I'd say that the best one is Goldfinger. You know, the one with Oddjob.

Actually it's "Alotta" -

I think Minnie Driver is gonna be the Bond babe in the next movie - seems viable to me...although she played a small part in Goldeneye - they'll probably ignore that though.

So, new sub-topic: which is your favorite Bond girl, and why? Likewise for your LEAST favorite.

I suppose I'll have to agree. Teri Hatcher was good, too - and a bit more believable. As much as you like Richards, I think you have to admit that she just doesn't look like a scientist - she was sort of over the top in her role as a Bond girl.

So overall, if we're talking the one who fit in the best, while still making for some nice eye candy, then I'd choose Hatcher. Keep in mind, however, that I've only seen the more recent Bond films.

I would have to say my favourite Bond film is Thunderball. That underwater fight sequence is freakin' awesome! Ooh and followed in second place would be Live and Let Die.
I don't really like the new ones, they aren't exactly that bad but they don't make me want to watch them again and again, like the old ones do.

All the ones with Connery were great but the best Bond film is the newer Casino Royale.
