Best Samurai Movies

The only Samuri movie i have seen was "The Last Samuri" with Tim Cruise and it was pretty damn good if i do say so myself

i think everybody knows kurosawa is good. so i am going to recomend something a little bit different.
samurai fiction (1998) it's a comedy.

a lot of wonderful films have been mentioned but one that immediately comes to mind is Kill! (Kiru)

somewhat of a parody on the many aforementioned Samurai films...a dark comedy blended in with the seriousness of the Samurai tradition

Ran is probably my favorite of the respectable Samurai flicks, but I definately prefer the cheesier Sonny Chiba ones. Shogun's Ninja and Ninja Wars are unbeatable!

Samurai 2 should be way higher! That scene towards the beginning when he's fighting the guy with the swinging knife, or whatever it is, is more than badass.

Yeah, Samurai 2 was the best of the Trilogy. Shishido Baiken was the sickle n' chain guy. I love those old "Gone With The Wind" colored backdrops, I guess they used them in studios back in the day. They always make a film seem like a play, which is cool.

The last modern movie I remember seeing them in was the beginning battle of Bram Stoker's Dracula, back in the early nineties. Much better than any CG or matte painting backdrop!
