Don't know if there is a thread like this already, but now that there are like 800 Comic Book movies per year what do you folks reckon are the best 10?

Here's my Top 10.

10. Kick Ass

9. Hellboy

8. Iron Man

7. X Men

6. Blade

5. X Men 2

4. Watchmen

3. Superman the Movie

2. Batman Begins

1. The Dark Knight

Good whiskey make jackrabbit slap de bear.
Superman: The Movie (1978)
Hulk (2003)
Batman (1989)
The Dark Knight (2008)
Iron Man (2008)
Superman II (1980)

I'm not a comic book fan so I'm not fussed how close they are to the original source material, or they changed certain things and so on. So going by the film only, I've enjoyed the following:

I think the following film Casshern was originally based on an anime comic?

and yes, I liked Cowboys and Aliens:

and some cheesy cheesy Barbarella:

Kickass, Batman Returns, Captain America, Hellboy 2, Superman The Movie, Spiderman 2

Yes I realize Captain America was not a great movie, but I'll be damned if I didn't just enjoy the hell out of it.

In alphabetical order (because I have trouble ordering things by how much I like them):

Batman Returns

Ghost World

Heavy Metal

A History of Violence

Kick-Ass

Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World

Spider-Man 2

Superman (1978)

Tank Girl (sort of a guilty pleasure)

X2

I am a recovering comic book collector so I do take the source material into account when I'm familiar with it, but I don't hold it against the film if they get details right or wrong. I'm more concerned with them keeping the tone consistent to the material than the details. That's why I like Burton's Batman a smidge more than Nolan's. While Nolan has an interesting take on the Dark Knight, I like my comics a bit more tongue-in-cheek. That's why, if pressed for an answer, I'd say that Spider-Man 2 is the best comic book adaptation of all time.

Now, if manga were included in this, I'd have to bump a film and throw Akira in there. I'd probably replace Tank Girl or Ghost World with Akira.

Tough to work out when there are some I've not seen for a while but I think this is pretty close to my 10 favourites

1. Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles
2. Iron Man
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Batman Begins
5. X-Men: First Class
6. The Crow
7. X-Men 2
8. Spider-Man
9. Thor
10. Hellboy II

Honourable mention for Batman - Mask of the Phantasm which just missed out.

The Crow could be higher but it's been so long since I saw it that it's hard to judge. And Batman Returns and Forever would have a good chance to make the list but not seen them in so long that I'm really not sure.

I forgot about "V for Vendetta", "Sin City" just about cracks the Top 10 too.

People seem to be finding some love for "Hellboy 2", a film that I thought was really really bad.

Weird, I liked the second Hellboy way more than the first.

1. Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles
Is that one of Michael Bay's new ideas?

10 Iron Man
9 Spider Man 2
8 Spider Man
7 Batman Returns
6 Batman
5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
4 Batman Begins
3 Superman The Movie
2 Superman 2
1 The Dark Knight

^ What didn't you like about it after liking the first film?
I ve seen it once at the Cinema. I remember the start being corny, like when the heroes are fighting some danger whilst making silly jokes. I barely even remember what happened the rest of the movie. Perhaps I should give it a second viewing when I get the chance.

^ Do give it a second chance.

Weird, I liked the second Hellboy way more than the first.
Same here, I didn't like the character John Myers and he was thankfully not in the sequel.

Second Hellboy > First
Second Spiderman > First
Second Noland Batman > First
Second Ironman < First
Second TMNT < First
Second Burton Batman > First

Don't know about the order, but I like all of these to a certain extent:
  • The Crow
  • Hellboy
  • The Dark Knight
  • Spiderman II
  • V for Vendetta
  • Blade
  • Superman II
  • American Splendor
  • Watchmen
  • Batman Begins
American Splendor is probably the best of the bunch.

If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for permission
If we're including graphic novels too...here's my faves:

The Dark Knight
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Sin City
Ghost World
A History of Violence
Constantine
V For Vendetta
From Hell
The Rocketeer
Batman Returns
