And when I'm all alone I feel I don't wanna hide
It's hard to say. Ozu knew how the institution of families operated; whether it be exploring marriage as a social contraint or looking into the ideas of tradition vs. modernity, he managed to capture middle-class post-war Japan so incredibly well. I don't think I have ever seen such a beautiful ending than I have in Late Spring; so powerful in its simplicity. His minimal camera movement also was very, ah, "audacious", for lack of better word, at the time.

Kurosawa is just impeccable. So versatile as a filmmaker; whether it be long historical epics, or human, contemporary dramas, he exceeded across every genre he pretty much tackled.

Mizoguchi is great, but I haven't seen enough of his films to offer a genuine opinion.
