Happy for Oppenheimer. I thought the screenplay for Barbie was the worst thing about it and didn't deserve this nomination. I haven't seen the other three nominees. This category feels too close to call though.

My pick would be Barbie.

I just finished watching American Fiction. It's a great screenplay and I am now predicting it to win.

Just watched American Fiction so I have now seen three of the nominees.

I'm still confused as to how the screenplay for Barbie is an adaptation. Can someone explain that to me please?

It's considered adapted because it is based on existing characters, Barbie and Ken.

The rules for what's considered "adapted" have often led to really silly, counterintuitive choices, yeah.

I'm more confused over why it was nominated. Are we now awarding mediocrity?

Just watched The Zone of Interest so, I have now seen four of the five nominees.

Just watched Poor Things so I have now seen all of the nominees and I'm torn between Poor Things and Barbie winning this.

American Fiction won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Did not expect the win here, but am very pleased with it. Didn't think the Academy had the presence of mind.
